The Pastoral Care Team of St James church are a dedicated group of pastoral care workers who are always very active both at church and in the community. On top of our busy lives at home, work and within the church, we are always happy to reach out to all people.
This is a ministry for any person who lives in our parish of Thornton,
not just for those who attend St. James church. Although we would
visit as representatives of the Church, we would respect any or no
beliefs.
We encourage people to get to know each other, by coming to the various events that are put on within our Community Church Halls throughout the year. A good example is the Fellowship Group held at 2 p.m. twice a month on a Monday afternoon where the group meet together for a cup of tea, a bite to eat and listen to a speaker on various topics like RNLI, Mediaeval England etc. but the main point is to meet people.
Our primary function is to visit people during times of sickness,
bereavement or loneliness.
If you know of anyone, with their permission, who would value a visit
from our lovely team of people, we would be very happy to arrange to
visit them in their home or local hospital.
Our visits are carried out in the knowledge that quite often what is
discussed is confidential and will be kept so.
As well as the previously mentioned not so good times also good times like new births, marriage, a new job etc., if we are informed we are able to send a card from the group to let people know they are in our thoughts and prayers.
If you would like a visit from a member of the group, and / or a card being sent, or for more information, please contact Rev Gloria Hardisty on 01274 833 280 or email gloria@james4u.org
